Hello and Congratulations!
If you are looking for a doula or breastfeeding information and support for you family or antenatal classes in Cheshire, Manchester and beyond please have a look around my website. I support families across all communities and can tailor packages to suit all budgets.
Birth can be an amazing, transitional experience. With the exciting months you have ahead, you may be thinking about having a doula to help in your transition to parenthood. As a new mum or dad, you may feel worried, excited, anxious, nervous, all at the same time!
Doula support in your pregnancy, birth and postnatal weeks can be a beneficial investment for you and your family on your journey to discover the wonders of birth. Women have been supported by other women, usually aunts, neighbours, friends, mothers or grandmothers during childbirth and postnatal period for centuries and differing trends throughout the decades saw this type of support wane as a more medicalised birth was introduced as hospital clinics and maternity units increased.
“I felt like I could confidently place my trust in her and know that she would respect my birth preferences etc. It was also important that my step-children felt good about her, and she was truly wonderful with my 12 year old stepson, lending us the Bump Book and The Food of Love by Kate Evans, which he found really accessible, and piqued his curiosity. This fostered an atmosphere where he has felt able to ask questions about childbirth, breast feeding etc, which was actually very handy as he ended up being home during the delivery!”
You may be searching for a doula in Manchester, Stockport and Cheshire including areas of Wilmslow, Chester, Warrington, Cheadle, Altrincham, Derbyshire and the High Peak , Greater Manchester, Trafford, West Yorkshire, Huddersfield and Merseyside. Being at the centre of the North West, I can travel effectively within an hour to many places.
Doulas offer emotional and practical support, guidance through one to one antenatal and postnatal sessions and can also provide educational tools to help you with your transition to mother/parenthood whilst also supporting the needs of your partner or older siblings.
I am able to support families during pregnancy who would like an intervention free, natural birth as well as families who opt for elective caesareans and I will fully support your birth choices. My role is flexible and your support package can be tailored to suit your families needs. Please do not let cost get in the way of contacting local doulas; we are all here to listen to your needs and provide a plan bespoke to your family when possible.
Being a mum myself of three children ranging from 13 through to 25, I understand the need for good support networks. It was during the pregnancies and early months of my own children that I started researching exactly what pregnancy means to me and the physiology of birth. I was eager to learn more about what exactly it was that made our bodies so amazing and that led me to be called to this work, supporting new mothers and their families in their journey.
I believe women should continue to have access to that one to one support, whether she is a family member, a friend or a professional doula. I would like all families to have the support, time and encouragement to choose the right birth for them and make informed choices in the early weeks and months of parenthood.
I have experience of postnatal support, helping families in the early weeks with singletons and multiples, breastfeeding support, older siblings and teenage families, intersectional couples and families with complex needs. I also support families in antenatal one to one sessions on a range of topics including how to know when you are in labour, birthing positions, rebozo and belly mapping, infant feeding including how to prepare for breastfeeding and what to expect in the early days and weeks with a newborn.
If you are looking for a doula in Manchester and Cheshire, I am available to support your family as your doula in the birth space you choose, at home, a birthing centre or hospital .
